Gabriel Medina wins the ASP WCT Billabong Pro Tahiti 2014, the best surfing contest EVER.

The ASP WCT Billabong Pro Tahiti 2014 has been, hands down, the best surf contest in history. Everyone agrees; from Occy to Kelly Slater.

These were Gabriel’s very first words after his final clash against 11 x World Champ Kelly Slater;

This crying is because I love surfing, I love what I’m doing right now and to get these waves is just unbelievable.

The 12 day waiting period delivered the most beautiful, heavy, gnarly and massive waves a WCT contest has ever witnessed.

I’m so blessed to have these conditions at Teahupo. To surf against all these guys, I’m a big fan of all of everyone. I don’t know what to say, I’m so happ y right now!”. Kelly is a legend of the sport. The waves were just perfect, this feeling is amazing.

Gabriel Medina has done very few mistakes and commited big time, specially against Kelly in the final. The 20 year old Pukas embassador has played very smart every heat and it paid off. He now furthers his ratings lead heading to Lower Trestles.
