Gabriel Medina is the new ASP WORLD JUNIOR CHAMP
Gabriel is the new ASP World Junior Champ surfing on a Pukas Surfboard, GAME model, shaped by Johnny Cabianca, 100% designed and manufactured in Oiartzun (in the Basque Country, Spain) in these dimensions: 5’9 x 19 x 2 ¼ at 26 litres.
Gabriel has defeated long time Pukas team rider Ramzi Boukhiam with a combination of turns and airs, a repertoire he has displayed with throughout the contest. The ASP World Junior Champ presented by Devassa had clean three-to-five (1.5 metre) waves at Joaquina Beach.
Pukas clinched an ASP World Title with Sunny Garcia (HAW) in the year 2000. 13 years after it has been Gabriel Medina (BRA), at 19 years old of age, who has clinched another ASP World Title for the records.
Throughout the event’s history, the ASP World Junior Championships has been claimed by some of surfing’s finest talent including Joel Parkinson (AUS), 32, Jordy Smith (ZAF), 26, Adriano de Souza (BRA), 26, Sally Fitzgibbons (AUS), 22, and Pauline Ado (FRA), 22.
