Gabriel Medina has surfed in an altered Pukas DFK shaped by Johnny Cabianca more into the lines of the DFK II, a 6’0 x 18’3/4″ x 2′ 7/16″ at 27 litres with FCS II and a round tail. Gabriel has scored a near perfect 9.87pt and backed it up with another excellent score of 8.43pt in the 40 minute final. His displayed big gauging maneuvers at every wave, with great barrel technique, a brutal confidence in airs and on top of it all, a transition between maneuvers and a variety of combination of maneuvers not seen before.
The brazilian magician surfs with Pukas Surfboards since he was 14 years old. He has signed his 7th WCT career final, his 4th WCT win, and has grabbed the World Number 1 spot in the ASP World Rankings.
As the official ASP announcer Joe Turpel said, “Gabriel is the king of variety”. And is paying off.
