Natxo Gonzalez

Rider Info

This youngster from Plentzia, Spain’s Basque Country, was born in September 1995 and is the best junior from Spain by far. He is able to mix a great high-performance surfing technique with a big wave approach that had him win big events and enter the BWWT in Chile.
He is really good at Mundaka, a spot where he has earned the respect of older mad-dogs and sneaks with ease into the best pits at any given good day.

Pukas Surf Natxo Gonzalez Punta Galea DVG Gun before final

XXL contender and BWWT nominee

This shot was taken minutes before Natxo jumped off the boat for the Punta Galea Big Wave Challenge. He won the contest in heavy conditions beating Ramon Navarro and a field of big wave chargers and won a wildcard for the BWWT event in Punta Lobos, Chile. He did IT being 17 years old on a Pukas Gun shaped by DVG. His mastership on big waves is a continuation to his improvement on waves like Mundaka, a complex spot just 30 minutes far from his home that Natxo is conquering with ease.

The KOTG put Natxo on the spot

Beating Micky Wright, Jack Robinson and posting some serious scores put Natxo on the map. Besides Aritz Aranburu, Natxo seems to be the best all round surfer coming out of the Basque Country lately. A technique topping the best and brave enough to tackle the biggest waves makes this junior a threat on any given condition.
